Most state parks in western North Carolina have reopened at least partially.
Mount Jefferson State Natural Area remains closed. Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains are closed long-term until further notice. Visit ncparks.gov/closures for more information on the status of all facilities.
U.S. 221 drive-to campsites and visitor center have reopened at New River State Park.
All trails, including at U.S. 221 access, and all other accesses remain closed. Please do not attempt to access closed areas, as conditions are unsafe for visitors.
