Mount Mitchell State Park is under long-term closure until further notice.
Please do not attempt to access the park, even on foot, as conditions are unsafe for visitors. There is no staff access to the park in case of an emergency. Click here to visit the National Park Service website for Blue Ridge Parkway closure information.
Most state parks in western North Carolina have reopened at least partially.
Mount Jefferson State Natural Area remains closed. Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains are closed long-term until further notice. Visit ncparks.gov/closures for more information on the status of all facilities.
