Ranger Daniel Tenney at Crowders Mountain State Park was one of the state employees honored with the Governor's Award for Excellence in 2022.
Ranger Tenney was recognized for Outstanding Government Service, not only for his job duties as lead law enforcement ranger at Crowders Mountain, but his leadership in firearms instruction for all rangers across the North Carolina State Parks system.
The Governor's Award for Excellence is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the state of North Carolina and its residents. Park staff nominated Ranger Tenney for the award to recognize how he goes above and beyond his park ranger duties to volunteer his time in teaching and developing the skills of all park rangers in the state. This video tribute, courtesy of the N.C. Office of State Human Resources, explains Ranger Tenney's dedication to the mission of the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation:
Congratulations, Ranger Tenney!
