The Friends invite you to help with trail work to restore your hurricane-impacted park on Saturday, November 23rd.  There’s a lot to do!   Trail work volunteers will be treated to lunch after the workday.

State Parks Director Brian Strong provides additional information on post-Helene rescue and recovery efforts and the status of western state parks.
Most western North Carolina state parks have reopened at least partially as of Nov. 15, 2024. Three parks are slated for long-term closure: Chimney Rock, Mount Mitchell, and South Mountains state parks.
M. Scott Avis has been named as the new south district superintendent, overseeing 11 parks in the North Carolina state parks system.
The $13.7 million will fund capital improvements projects at 11 state parks.
Ranger Daniel Tenney at Crowders Mountain State Park received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Outstanding Government Service category for his work as a park ranger and his volunteer duties as firearms instructor for the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
