Come and Learn all about the nocturnal animals in Gorges State Park! We will be exploring the trail after dark with flashlights to look for animal eye-shine and to listen for sounds in the night.

Stay at the Park Visitor Center after the hike for a small campfire and smores. We will be meeting at the Outdoor Amphitheater behind the Visitor Center building.

This program is being presented in collaboration with the 2025 NC Science Festival.

About the NC Science Festival

Founded in 2010, the North Carolina Science Festival is the first statewide science festival in the United States. Through a series of community-based events each April (hosted by schools, colleges, libraries, museums, parks, businesses, and other local organizations), the Festival celebrates the economic, educational, and cultural impacts of science in North Carolina. It is an initiative of the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For more information, please visit ncscifest.org.
