There are a lot of flies out there. How do you pick the right one for the fish you're targeting? We’ve got you covered! It's all about 'matching the hatch'—choosing the fly that best resembles what the fish are feeding on.
Join our Entomology for Anglers course, this time at South Mountains State Park! We’ll start in the classroom with a presentation on how to identify bugs, gather specimens, and understand the lifecycle of aquatic insects—and, of course, which flies work best to mimic them. Then, grab your boots as we head out to Jacobs Fork to find and identify some insects firsthand. After that, we’ll break for lunch (don’t forget to bring yours!). We’ll wrap up by returning to the classroom for a closer look at the specimens under a digital microscope.
Participants must be at least 12 years old to register. Those 15 and younger must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian.
