Topics Related to NC Science Festival

Bats are one of the coolest animals in the world. No other critter is as mystifying and misunderstood in popular culture. Join our park staff for an evening talk about the important roles that bats play in nature. This program will be held at the park office. We hope you will fly by!
All month long at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area!

What make bobcats such good hunters? Why are coyotes hard to spot? How do beavers keep warm in cold water? Join us at the Catawba River Area to learn about the amazing adaptations of the animals that call Lake James home. Then, take a hike to see what wildlife you can find!

Join us for a special partner program with the NC Science Trail as part of NC SciFest!
Explore Morrow Mountain after dark! Go on a guided hike of the Quarry Trail with park staff. We will look and listen for signs of nocturnal wildlife. Bring your own flashlight or headlamp; red light function is preferred. Registration is limited to 50 participants. Please call the Park Office to sign up at (704) 982-4402. Meet at Shelter C.

Join us all month long in celebrating the 2025 NCSciFest theme "Science: Everyday, Everywhere, Everyone"! We will be hosting a month long, self-guided scavenger hunt using the Goosechase application.
