Topics Related to Carvers Creek State Park

Warm up with a bit of primitive fort building using natural materials. Cool off by testing to see if it can protect you from the elements with a water gun battle. Water guns will be provided. Please bring clothing you don’t mind getting soaked in and maybe even some goggles.  

Come spend some time canoeing in the cypress trees looking for some of our beautiful Spring birds! We will be canoeing and bird watching at the same time! To participate you must have previously completed at least one canoe hike at Carvers Creek State Park.

Bring the children out to learn how to fish. Together we will learn how to tie a fishing knot, how to bait a hook and how to cast! Park staff will supply the pole, tackle, and bait but feel free to bring your own.

Feelings of fear and fascination collide as we learn all about snakes. Come take this opportunity to learn all about snakes: how to identify them and where you can find them. You'll even get the chance to meet and touch a real snake! 

Come one, come all, to the great Circuit Bugs ! To start the event, we will parade through the trails on a bug crawl, searching for and collecting some many legged friends. After, we'll pick our favorites to replicate and build battery operated bug circuits that light up! 

 

Come out for a nature hike. We will be exploring our fire-dependent longleaf pine ecosystem. We will observe numerous native species to the Sandhills. Bring a bottle of water, a camera (if you like taking pictures), and your walking shoes!
