Camping
Facility Description(s)
Facility: 33 Drive-to family campsites (non-electric). A tent pad, picnic table and grill are
available at each site.
Location: At the end of Family Camp Circle.
Accommodates: Up to 6 people per site or one family.
Nearby Amenities: Restrooms, drinking water, dump station.
Available: March 15th through November 30th.
Reservations Required: No.
Accessible: Yes.
Facility: 3 Primative walk-in group camsites. Fire ring and picnic tables at each site.
Location: Off of Group Camp Lane.
Accommodates: Up to 25 people, each.
Nearby Amenities: Drinking water and restrooms.
Available: April through November.
Reservations Required: No, but reservations are recommended. Campers without reservations must confirm
site availability with park staff before occupying a site.
Accessible: No.
Note:
Campsites are for overnight use only.
Dump stations are for the use of registered campers only.
Drive-to / Walk-in Camping (no electrical / water hookups): (Water, restrooms and shower facilities.)

Primitive Group Camping
Unimproved campsites with pit privies (composting or vault toilets, etc.) --- $1 per person per day with a $9 minimum per site

Facility: Heron shelter. 1 twelve-table picnic shelter with 1 grill.
Location: Near the Park Lake.
Accommodates: Up to 96 people.
Nearby Amenities: Drinking water and restrooms.
Available: Year-round.
Reservations Required: See note below. Reservations are not required, but are recommended for holidays.
Accessible: No.
Facility: Osprey and Kingfisher shelters. 2 twelve-table picnic shelters with 2 grills, each.
Location: At the end of Shortleaf Lane near the swimming area.
Accommodates: Up to 96 people, each.
Nearby Amenities: Drinking water and restrooms.
Available: Year-round with the exception of weekdays from December through March 14th.
Reservations Required: See note below. Reservations are not required, but are recommended for weekends
and holidays.
Accessible: Yes.
(Available by reservation. Available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, if not
reserved.)
9 - 12 Tables --- $85/day
Forms of Payment: Cash, checks, travelers checks. At this time, only Carolina Beach, Mount Mitchell
and Morrow Mountain State Parks accept Visa or Mastercard.
A $25 fee will be charged for all returned checks.
