ATTENTION CLIMBERS: SEASONAL WILDLIFE CLOSURES ARE IN EFFECT TO PROTECT THE NESTING AND ROOSTING SITES OF PEREGRINE FALCONS.

The north end of Moore’s Wall will be closed to all users until August 31st or further notice. For a complete list of affected climbing routes please call the Hanging Rock State Park office at (336) 593-8480.

RAPTORS ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO HUMAN DISTURBANCE. PLEASE ABIDE BY THIS SEASONAL CLOSURE.



LAKE OPERATION SCHEDULE

Lake swimming and boating, as well as the bathhouse and refreshment stand facilities at Hanging Rock State Park, will open for the 2008 summer season on June 11.

The operation of these facilities coincides with the public school calendar, which runs late this year in Stokes County. Please contact the park for more information.

Facility Description(s)

• Facility: Canoe and rowboat rentals.
• Location: Hanging Rock Lake.
• Accommodates: Canoes, 2 people. Rowboats, up to 3 people.
• Nearby Amenities: Snackbar, public restrooms, swim area and bathhouse.
• Availability: June 1 until Labor Day.
  Monday 11:00 am until 4:30 pm.
  Tuesday - Sunday: 10:00 am until 4:30 pm.
• Reservations Required: No. Boats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Accessible: No.

Rowboat/Canoe Rental

• First Hour --- $5/hour
• Additional Hours --- $3/hour

Cabins

Facility Description(s)

• Facility: Ten cabins, each with a bathroom, living room, kitchen with dining space and two bedrooms. Smoking is not permitted in the cabins.
• Location: On Cabin Drive near the tent and trailer campground.
• Accommodates: Up to six people. Pets are not permitted in the cabin area.
• Nearby Amenities: None.
• Availability: Four cabins are available year-round, ten are available March until December.
• Reservations Required: Yes.
• Accessible: Two cabins are ADA accessible.

(Note: By reservation only; minimum two-night stay required; except the first Monday in June through Labor Day, weekly rental only.)

Camping

Facility Description(s)

• Facility: Drive-to / walk-in campsites (non-electric). A tent pad, picnic table and grill are at each campsite.
• Location: Tent and trailer campground.
• Accommodates: Up to six people per site, pets permitted on leash.
• Nearby Amenities: Water, restrooms and shower facilities. Restrooms and shower facilities are closed from December 1 until March 15. A pit privy is available.
• Available: Year-round. Campers must arrive during park operation hours. Access is not available after the park has closed.
• Reservations Required: No. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Accessible: One site is ADA accessible with an accessible washhouse nearby.

• Facility: Eight primitive group campsites. Picnic tables and a fire circle are at each site.
• Location: Group Camp Road.
• Accommodates: Up to 10 people per site, no pets permitted.
• Nearby Amenities: Pit toilets and water.
• Available: Year-round. Campers must arrive during park operation hours. Access is not available after the park has closed.
• Reservations Required: Yes.
• Accessible: One site is ADA accessible.
