Due to potential adverse weather conditions and rip currents associated with Hurricane Earl, ferry service to Bear island will be suspended Wednesday through Friday. Camping will not be allowed on the island during this period. Further advisories will be issued pending weekend weather forecasts.

White Lights on the beach front at night prohibited
... details ± Bear Island is home to nesting sea turtles. Campers need to be aware that during the summer months the use of white lights on the beach front at night is prohibited. If you walk the beach front at night PLEASE use a red lens or cover the lens of the flashlight with something red.
