Marina Closed Due to Renovations/ Change in Camping Registration Process/Prescribed Burns Conducted
... details ±Marina Closed:The marina complex (boat basin, fuel dock, boat ramps, and store) will be closed beginning December 1, 2008 to begin a dredging and renovation project. Construction is expected to continue through Spring 2010.
Change in Camping Registration Process: During the time the marina is closed, campers must register for campsites at the visitor center office.
Prescribed Burns: Two prescribed burns totaling approximately 120 acres were conducted in March. Portions of Sugarloaf Trail, the Flytrap Trail and the areas surrounding the group camping sites were within the burn areas. The purpose of the burns was to reduce fuel loads, benefit fire dependent species and to assist in the control of exotic invasive species.
