RALEIGH -- William B. Umstead State Park will temporarily close a pedestrian entrance at Old Reedy Creek Road Oct. 7-10 while a construction project is under way on the gravel portion of the roadway, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.
A three-quarter-mile section of Old Reedy Creek Road leading to the state park entrance will be closed by the N.C. Department of Transportation for a scheduled project to re-grade the road surface and repair ditch areas. Pedestrian traffic will not be allowed on or through the site due to safety concerns with the operation of heavy machinery. Upon completion of the project, normal access to pedestrian trails will resume.
The project should be completed within four days, and visitors can enter the state park during this period at the nearby Harrison Avenue entrance.
